This seems to be a twice a year bloomer.
I got it from Kawamoto last summer with two spikes with one flower on each.
Then I killed off some new developing leads, leaving only one. This one grew and bore two flowers on a spike in December.
Now it is in bloom again on a biggest pb ever but only one flower.

It is cute and smells so nice all day and well into late evening.
I think cattleyas among other orchids I grow, respond badly to misting near the dormant eyes. They always turn dark and die.
This little guy has about two or more dormant eyes swelling up. I have to really be careful this time.

That's beautiful! Blooming twice a year is a nice bonus.

Very nice! I have a Toshie Aoki that I am waiting to one day bloom. But I just recently noticed the newest lead had a very dark sarong around it and the lead may be rotted. I don't usually have this happen. Toshie Aoki is one of the parent's to your Toshie's Magic. I wonder if they are sensitive to moisture at the new leads more so than others. Or just a coincidence!

I would settle for just a single flower for one that beautiful.

I had the same problem on minicats and I solved it by spraying frequently with RD20 (Physan 20) Peroxide would probably work also if you don't have RD 20.

Good to know. I actually did give mine a spray with Physan 20 yesterday when I realized what was happening to it. Likely too late for that new lead tho.

I actually killed dormant eyes on other catts as well, but this particular catt had many of its eyes killed.

I love misting and I just did my misting on this catt today. I totally forgot about my commitment.
I also like to uncover the dry cover to see if anything undesirable is hiding underneath ever since I found scales on one of my catt that I ended up tossing out.
I think removing this old cover leaves the dormant eyes more vulnerable to rot due to misting.

I find physan 20 useless, so I dumped the bottle.
I got it years ago to treat spots on oncidiums. it never worked.

Is treating roots with peroxide alright? no damage??
