anyone know what species my cattlya is? Female
Default anyone know what species my cattlya is?

Hi everyone,

I am new here & this is my first post. I have 9 orchid & 30 houseplants (including my orchids). Orchids are my favorite! I have some experience with phals, however I went to my first orchid show in february & decided to try something new. I purchased my first cattleya. The flowers died when I brought it home, but now it has a new shoot of some sort!
The flowers are pale soft orange with almost a green tinge inside. It smells very nice. Does anyone know what species it is? I couldn't understand the man i bought it from.

It isn't a species, it's a hybrid.

It is most likely a Laeliocattleya, (Lc for short), idk.

Ask the man to write the name down for you instead of saying it if he has a thick accent or speech impediment of some sort.

You will most likely never learn the name of this hybrid orchid, but you learned a valuable lesson. At orchid shows insist on a tag with the exact name of the orchid. Few vendors will not tag or at the very least write the name on a receipt. The fact that it's pretty and has a nice fragrance will have to suffice.
