Sorry, I didn't mean I used bark. For the most part I have continued to use LECA, also lava rock works well for me. I just quit using the SH method for some of the plants.

I have a greenhouse that all my plants are in the the warm months. In winter it runs between 40 - 80 degs. I bring my warm growing plants indoors. The temperature tolerant ones stay in the greenhouse.
When it gets cold I don't like the SH because the root zone is too wet and I was having trouble with rot. I also have several types that like a winter rest and I just found it easier to use LECA with a regular pot.

The room I use indoors is on the cool side and I lost a couple of large plants in SH because the root zone stayed too cool.

I still use it for small Phals and a kind of hybrid version for my Bulbophyllums.

So while I really like the SH idea and feel it works, my situation has kind of evolved away from it.
