Are the black spots squishy? Does anything ooze out if you squeeze the spots or does the "skin" peel back easily if touched?

Same consistency, no ooze or peeling easily.

Interesting supposition Steve. It would be interesting to repot this and see. I agree mainly because I see no older pbulbs or leaves. They are all the same size and age from what I can see.

Does anyone else think this plant is a compot that never got separated when it was large enough to do so? That would explain why a plant this size hasn't bloomed even though it's large and getting plenty of sun. Its not one large mature plant, but rather lots and lots of small immature plants.
isurus79 do you suggest to divide the plant? Actually accidentally a small part got broken from it and I planted it separately( 3 years back), that plant is also growing( only growing). I don't even see any root coming out of the pot so I don't think it is root bound either..I have stopped buying Cattleyas for this reason!

Personally, I would untangle the roots and see how many plants are in the mass. I bet there is a whole bunch!

Default new spike came off

This is what the roots look like. The tiny leave with the black spot just came off. Not sure what happened but the new spike growing came off.
