Default Cattleya warneri var. albescens

Being a selfing of the clone 'Santa Teresa', the one with rosy petals/sepals and white lips, this one cannot bear the same clonal name anymore, although the flower is very similar to the mother. Would it be a mericlone (like the one I showed days ago) and the 'Santa Teresa' could be preserved in the name.

I didn't realize that it couldn't retain the clonal name!!! I thought perhaps it could be 'Sant Teresa Mary' or some such.

I have a lot to learn. But I know it's a gorgeous flower no matter the name!

Debs, as you know there is a set of rules governing orchid nomenclature and this is one of them. A clonal name identifies one specific plant and only that one, its divisions and mericlones. When we self cross such a plant the progeny necessarily looses the parent clonal name, because the new generation is genetically similar, but not equal to the parent.
It is possible that some plants of the new generation be as good as the parent, or even better. Then, these new may receive a distinct clonal name, perhaps 'Santa Teresa Mary' as you say . This is perfectly OK.
My plant is beautiful, but not as beautiful as its mother, so I don't feel it deserves a clonal name.

I like the pink overtones. Very nice.
