Default Cattleya gaskelliana var. alba 'Maria Isabel'

Beautiful white variety of this Venezuelan species. This clone 'Maria Isabel' is a tricky plant to get fully mature, at least to me and some friends. I can't figure out why. I have two plants, one I acquired three years ago as a seedling and a seedling it still is. The other, in the photo, has been growing slowly but at least is flowering.

Perhaps the alba version is not a good grower? This species is supposed to be a robust grower in intermediate conditions so it's probably your specific plants that are slow.

Yes, Phantasm, that's what we think too, I mean, these are meristemed plants, and this fact can help to explain why me and several friends have been experiencing similar trouble growing them. Other gaskellianas grow very well in the same environment.

Even though it's harder to grow and slower, the flower is your reward. It's beautiful!
