This is only the sheath. It is ok. Some sheaths are brownish and some are black. None of mine ever show any problems. This should grow more pbulbs. It lacks something in it's diet. It should grow a new bud from each of these pbulbs. I would water it more often "lightly" with some KLN or Superthrive. Just a quick spray. You don't want the deeper part of the pot to stay wet. Just water the topmost layer. That might also encourage the older pbulbs to sprout new buds. Also this plant is in too big a pot for it's size. And it is just the right shape for mounting if you are so inclined. If you do mount it place it so the new pbulb is growing up. I'd love to have this. A technique I have used on reluctant plants I want to push into making more pbulbs is to cut halfway through with a razorblade right at the very base of each old pbulb. Not all the way through but only halfway through. This doesn't impede the flow of energy from each pbulb to the new growth but acts like a cutting. It has worked numerous times for me.
