Default Bullara Memoria Carolyn Sutton

Bullara: Cattleya x Encyclia x Guarianthe x Rhyncholaelia

This was a division given to me by an OB member, summer '11. It has bloomed both springs since then, so seems to be a reliable bloomer. Temperature tolerant (grows outside year-round except for nights when it may freeze, when it goes into the uninsulated garage), taking short periods of cold - down to near freezing for short periods, sheltered from weather in winter; and short periods of extreme heat - I try to keep it shaded when it's extremely hot. A nice compact size. It's potted in a 3" plastic pot; medium fir bark and chc mix.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks! I just love it! OB member GlenGary (haven't seen him here for a while) had a photo of this as his avatar - I sent him a pm, asking what it was, because I thought it was spectacular! A couple months later, he sent me this division! I believe this cross was created by someone he knows, and most of the other resulting progeny have much paler colors (tho still lovely!) than the one he got ... Maybe with time, it will become more available - it's an easy grower and bloomer, compact size, and it's fabulous looking!

You sure hit it lucky with this one! The only picture in OrchidWiz of this cross is yellow rather than the rich orange of your petals.

I haven't seen GlenGary on here either!

Yes, I've seen a pic of the yellow - it's very pretty, and I wouldn't mind having one of those! - but doesn't have the same "wow" factor this one does.

It gets some sun in the mid/late afternoon, and when the sun hits it, it's such a brilliant splash of color!
