In reference to your previous post on size changes in blooms:
We spoke to a very knowledgeable friend today on why the size of blooms might change in size from what it was when purchased to the time we get it to bloom again.

It could be any number of reasons...the most likely being a change in culture/conditions. The previous grower might use a different potting mix, a different fertilizer, a different fertilizing schedule. What needs to be done is to measure the first bloom it gets while in your possesion and then comppare that to what comes up the second time around.

Good idea Susanne. I'm not sure this is smaller than the norm though. From what I've read and other information that I've gleaned, Goldenzelles have notoriously small flowers.

Considering their popularity especially in Japan, this surprises me. Although I do have to admit I've been called a 'Size Queen' when it comes to floofy catt blooms.

I'm writing down the size of the flower on Promised Land's chart so I can see if there is a difference next year. Thanks again!
