The pure white flowers gave this plant the common name "virgin flower" or "virgin Mary flower" in the countries of the Caribbean and the north of South America.
Hybrids are named Dia- (Dialaelia, Diacattleya) for their genus synonym Diacrium.
More interesting are the pseudobulbs. They are hollow like those of Myrmecophila and get a hole at their base as they ripen. Soon they are colonized by ants, who thus contribute to the nutrition and defend against enemies.
Luckily ant colonies are not needed to grow the plant well in my greenhouse.

Just bought this plant today. It will take some time before I have it in my hands still. I saw the flowers and decided I had to have one.

I think they look elegant and clean and beautiful.

Are they fragrant? And how do you grow yours?

It is a grateful easy growing plant. I grow mine like any standard Cattleya, with high light level in wintertime (50° up north) and moderate light during the summer, and a slight winter rest. I didn't find out a significant fragrance.
