Steven, I am from northern Taiwan. The climate here is subtropical monsoon type.

My Maikai are grown outdoors all year round. The new growth starts in late spring and matures in mid-autumn. In growing period, amply water is needed and in fact, it is rainy here in late spring and summer, so the exact thing I am worry about is to avoid the medium over soaked.
After the plant complete growing, the spikes will appear. When they finish flowering, dry the plant off to avoid rotting.

Like other orchids, plant food should be applied in growing period. I use 20-20-20 fertilizer, 1500X every week. But when they rest in winter, do not fertilize the plant.

Bc. Maikai prefer coarse, quickly-drained medium. Repotting in spring when they start growing is suggested.

Mine looks exactly like that, but a bit smaller. The scent at night is absolutely heavenly... smells like lavender and honey to me! I hope I can give mine enough light to have the same luck! What kind of lighting does your plant receive?
