My purps grow rather fast....always get several leads thru out the year.
That must have been a rough 30 minute ride? Why would that set them back?
How are you growing them...conditions etc.

The ride home wasn't necessarily rough, and they are growing outdoors. I live in the coastal california fog belt and freezes are rare if present. Night temps get down to 40-55 depending on season and max day temperatures are from 65 in the winter to 80 in the fall. My Laelia purpurata are potted in dolomite in a clay pot. Humidity averages at 60% and I water nearly everyday.

I got these as seedings with the largest growths only 6 inches from rhizome to leaf tip and the rootball wasn't in that great condition. They finally have extensive root systems. They put on new growths only a month or two ago and still have a month or two before maturation of them.

I had a few mounted and they didn't do much of anything for months so I ended up potting them.

I would say you're growing too cool. Mine never get below 55 in the winter and in the summer the temps go as high as 100 degrees. They grow steady and have always bloomed.
Yours are small seedlings and definitely need to be kept warmer.

I have to agree with OrchidTess. I grow mine in full Hawaiian sun and while Ive never taken a temperature, it gets HOT!! My 2 purps grow almost as quickly as the nodosa and Bl Morning Glory that are growing right next to them in the same conditions. Is there any way you can crank up the temp for your guys???
