Lol. Ironically the PB on this one don't look that great. Not unhealthy but ugly much.

Yep, I see one dormant eye that is very much alive. There are some wrinkles on pbs but as long as there is a dormant eye, it will grow into a new pb and keep on making more and more in the future.

I'm glad you got this replacement.

While repotting the new plant, I noticed that most of the roots were dead (I'd say about 98%). At least it's putting out new growth, so I'd be able to expect roots then.

I hope the place where you got it from gave you a good deal. Try using some seaweed extract (kelp) if you can get some as it works great to encourage roots

With Cattleyas dry roots are common; if it was root rot I'd be more disappointed. They can absorb water and fertilizer thru the underneath of their leaves. In no time with good light and nutrients new roots will form. Like Silken said, seaweed will simulate root growth, so will superthrive & coconut water from green/young coconuts.
