Fine Laelia purpurata var. alba
Finally they start blooming this season! From now until mid-December it is a feast for the eyes with so many splendid Laelia purpurata in bloom! This is my first purpurata to show its flowers this year, a fine variety of pure white flowers. Laelia purpurata and its varieties are beloved flowers in my country and every orchid lover in the southeast and south Brazil (regions where it grows well) has, had or will have at least one of them. Many here also think that it is the national flower of Brazil, but unfortunately it is not (what a shame!!). The City of Florianópolis, Capital of the State of Santa Catarina, where the finest L. purpurata has been found, has included it among its official symbols sponsoring an annual feast exclusively dedicated to this unique flower!. Hope you like it!
In time: It is sort of technicality but, actually, the correct varietal name would be 'virginalis'

Pure absolute beauty! Simply gorgeous!
Well done, Mauro
I love the 'chids with bright colors and patterns but nothing is as astounding as a pure white orchid. Amazing!

Very elegant.
Though we also have some varieties of this species sold in Taiwan, I have never seen a real white variety.

I agree, this is stunning. And more unbeleivable is that this orchid gets a celebration from the people!!

Just beautiful! One of my husbands favorite flowers. I am curious how you grow your plant? I bought a Bl Morning Glory(B. nadosa x L. purpurata) this year. My understanding is that this plant needs alot of light. Do you grow yours outdoors? Does anyone else have additional growing advice? I also grow it S/H, looks happy but wonder if it could use less watering.
