I saw this one at the orchid show this weekend in Jamaica. It really is stunning to look at in real life & up close. Claude Hamilton had a specimen size one in his orchid exhibition setup.

I wonder if LCs are supposed to be easier or just more reliable bloomer?

Would you have an opinion on that?

I finally dumped out my pot. Susan Fender Cinnamon Stick after not seeing even a sheath over one year.

I got yet another standard sieze BLC last fall. It is maturing a new lead and I see no sheath. a nightmare is coming back to haunt me. lol

I love this one so I'm not sure if I want to dump it out soon but I really don't want to keep something that I cannot rebloom. I'd rather grow veggies that I can take advantage of in that space. hahaha
I do grow a lot of cattleyas. I don't think an Lc would necessarily be any easier to bloom than other catts. It's probably a situation where your particular hybrid is more suited for the environment that you have. That individual orchid may require less light than others. My personal opinion would be that, as a general rule, mini-cattleyas would be more suited to indoor growing than the larger varieties. Many of them seem to require a little less light. That's just my opinion. Good luck.

I have the same problem as NYCorchidman. I love Cattleyas, but I'm unable to rebloom them. I've got a LC French Night 'Offenbach' that I bought in bloom a couple of years ago and has never rebloomed. It has put out some new growths, but no blooms. Last week I've put her outside hanging from a branch of a quince tree. The leaves of the tree are just popping out, so she receives lots of direct sun (it isn't too strong yet). She's starting to get a red sheen on the leaves, so maybe the light is too intense? I hope she does something this year. If not, I might sell her.
