Default A Couple of Epidendrums in Bloom

It seems to be the blooming season for the epidendrums. Here are a couple of compact plants (about 12 inches tall) in bloom. Both plants were obtained last year from Kodama Orchid Nursery in Waianae. They are grown in New Zealand Sphagnum Moss under 60% shade cloth. The orange flowers are Epi. Moon Valley and the rosey pink flowers are Epi. Lovely Valley. Both crosses were made by a breeder in Japan.

Lovely! I have those colours in my garden and they look great when they bloom en masse, especially the pink one.

Your garden must be beautiful. Fortunately these epidendrums can be grown under full sun.

They are a very tough group I have found, many people grow them in gardens here, often in full sun, an afternoon walking the dog often sends me home with a handful of keikis taken from plants overhanging the nature strip LOL . Mine are all the larger form, I'd love to get some of the mini type ones as well and also some of the multi-coloured ones
