Default Lc. Gold Digger 'Orchid Jungle' HCC/AOS in bloom

I've had this one for 1 1/2 years and this is my 2nd blooming of it. It bloomed about 6 weeks later last year with only 2 flowers. They were more yellow without the sunset tones. I think that maybe the fact that it is 6 weeks earlier and the buds developing in a somewhat cooler greenhouse at this time, it has added more color. Also last year I was disappointed that the inflorescence was so short and the flowers seemed to be almost lost in the crown of the leaves. I recently saw a thread where someone mentioned misting the flower stem with seaweed to make it grow. I did that several times being very careful not to let water collect in the crown. It maybe helped as the blooms are presented better this time on a longer inflorescence!

No scent so far and I don't remember if they were scented last year. Blooms are about 3 inches wide.

Beautiful colors! It looks like a nice healthy plant. I don't think misting the flower stem makes any sense at all. One thing that may help make flower stems taller is to fertilize the plant occasionally with bloom booster fertilizer. The extra phosphorus may help with taller spikes. But the genetics of the plant has more to do with the height of the flower stem than anything else.

Thanks everyone for looking!

tucker85, I wondered about the seaweed thing too. But thought it was worth a try. I always do use bloom booster when the growth is maturing. The better flower count and presentation may have just been because the plant is morel established now. It's in a clear pot and has lots of lovely white roots visible all throughout the pot. I'm hoping it will put out some multiple leads now after blooms are finished.

Never had too many problems with mine. They generally flower with long spikes and really stand up and look at you which is remarkable.

Last year I had 24 flowers on 7 inflorecences but had about 7 flowers blast because the weather changed at the wrong time.

This one will multiply fairly well and makes a splendid specimen plant.

Mine has only ever flowered in April annually, although sometimes has a year off.
