Very beautiful orange color. I like these very much. Something I always look for but never find at any of the shows on the donation table. (I wonder why?)

Nice flower.
Unfortunaly mine keeps on selfpollinating, and therefore the flowers onlys lasts a few days. :-( Are yours having the same problem?

Cattleya aurantiaca, bowringiana, deckeri, skinneri and patinii have now been moved to genus Guarianthe.
http://www.lankesteriana.ucr.ac.cr/l...%20Higgins.pdf

C. deckeri is now considered a variety of C. skinneri. Some C. deckeri are said to be self pollinating and I have reserved a flask of seedlings from a parent that self pollinated.

humlebaekMalene:

There are some pupulations of Guarianthe (Cattleya) aurantiaca in nature that are self polinated. You can't do anything to solve it. This is a genetic issue, not a culture problem.

You'll have to purchase a new G. aurantiaca that opens flowers fully.
