Default Pot. Petitpetit Lucky has a bloom

My Pot. Petitpetit Lucky has bloomed for the 2nd time in 6 months. I got it from Cloud's last spring as a medium seedling so the first bloom late last summer was a surprise. I posted about it here http://www.orchidboard.com/community...g-strange.html when it started blooming. It had bloomed from a sheath like a regular cattleya the first time and this time it is blooming like one of its parents (walkeriana) from the base of the pseudobulb. I had never seen that before.

Maybe it will always produce 1 flower when it grows the spike from the base. But it is as cute as last time It's growing lots of roots also.

Thanks everyone! It's one of my favs. I like how the petals and lip have a darker line of pink around the outer edges.

Other than my one Laelia tenebrosa, I grow all my Cattleyas in medium bark and try to use clear pots. They seem to love it. I don't know if you can see in the picture, but it has lovely new roots which reach all the way to the bottom of the pot. I have been using seaweed off and on for the last year as well.

That's strange that it's bloomed both ways. You would think that it would either bloom like a walkeriana or bloom like other cattleyas. Never-the-less it has wonderful color. I think it's beautiful orchid.
