One of my favorites! Pretty and has a nice smell. For some reason with this plant no matter how many buds start out, only one seems to survive

I've discussed this very fact with agronomists who are into things like "hanging baskets", etc. and we suspect that plant genetics has been at fault here. When you breed plants down to the point where the Potinara (Brassavola x Cattleya x Laelia x Sophronitis) has been bred, lotsa things go by the way. Hardiness is often one of those things. Many of us orchid growers choose the species orchids for just this reason. When an intergeneric hybrid fails you, it sometimes may be that its requirements are so specific that only experts can grow it. Maybe that's what's going on here?

Well, that makes me feel a little better...maybe it's not something that I'm doing wrong!

Doubt you're doing anything wrong! Just that your provisions aren't EXACTLY what your Potinara requires. Just my thoughts. But sounds like you are close! While you don't have whole frond of blooms you do have something. So you aren't way off, just a bit.?
