This one blooms every 2nd week of October like clockwork. Five years in a row now. Pictures don't do it justice.
No idea what it is - no scent but really nice color. Flowers are 2-1/4" across. The plant itself looks like an Eplc. with kinda sectioned p-bulbs that have two leaves per. I say sectioned in that about 1/3 the way up each bulb there is a hortizontal line that runs around the circumference.
Wish I could say that my exceptional care and orchid knowledge (yeah, right) contributed to its florishing but mom nature takes care of that...
A further search on Ctna. and I found photos of the actual plants that exactly like mine. I think we have at least ID'ed it that far.
The photo of the bloom in your link looks very close too but we may never know for sure.
Pardon my orchid ignorance but I never really paid attention to Cattleytonias before - and don't really want to admit that I hadn't heard of them until now or that I did and it didn't register... where have I been??
Well at least you are that much closer than it being just a cattleya NOID
I didn't think it was an exact match but definitely in the same family.
Isn't it great that you know of a 'new' type of orchid and that you have one in your collection
It doesn't matter where you have been .. it's where you are going that counts
and if you aren't sure of that .. think of all the new things you have yet to discover!
