Slc. Hawaiian Splash
Hello everyone!
So my venture to the nursery to buy an oncidium turned into me coming home with a mini catt (the Twinkle I went in for wasn't in on this shipment, and all the other plants were HUGE)
Anyway. I purchased a Slc. Hawaiian Splash, and wondered if anyone could tell me what the best way to keep this guy going was. I've had a catt before, but it did miserably for a while before kicking the bucket, so I think I'd like some advice on this one.
I'd like to see it bloom again next year, because it is really pretty. I'll put a picture of it up when I get home this evening.

From Orchid Wiz:
Light:
Hawaiian Splash is composed of species of which 76% take high light, 63% take medium light and 25% take low light. Grow this hybrid in dappled light to bright indirect light conditions. It may be tolerant of shaded conditions.
Temp:
Hawaiian Splash is composed of species of which 100% take warm temperatures, 88% take cool temperatures and 13% take hot temperatures. Grow this hybrid in cool to warm conditions, or 58°F to 75°F at night.
Water:
50%-60% humidity. Mature plants MUST dry out between waterings. Grow in a pot with a porous, free-draining media. Fertilize weekly, weakly (one quarter to half the normal dose). Common media: fir bark, tree-fern fiber, expanded clay, lava rock, charcoal or a combination.
You can start from this advice and then see what you need to adjust for your environment.
Hope that helps!

Thanks! This does help! Right now I have it in my south facing window next to a bougainvilla which is doing pretty fantastic. I'll have to repot it though, i think. Since it's potted in moss. Hopefully it is warm enough since winter is here. But it kind of sounds like it and the bougainvilla will get along just fine
Still out, so pictures have to wait!

Bougainvillea take a lot of light I thought. Make sure it's not too much light for your catt. If you see the foliage taking on a reddish "tinge" then it's getting too much light.
Also best to report when the catt has new growths with new roots about 1/2 to 1 inch long. You can keep it in the moss until new growths just make sure that it is dry before watering again. You can learn the weight of the pot to know when it needs watering or you can use the bamboo skewer method and poke a bamboo skewer into the middle of the pot. If the skewer comes out dry it's time to water.

No It's not very big. It's about 15 inches tall. I don't have a lot of room in the apartment, so I try to limit the size of the plants I get. I put it in the vase with the glass beads because it is a bit top heavy, and won't stand up on it's own.
