Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Brenda, some find the fragrance pleasant, but to my nose this one has a strong smell of orange rind with a touch of burnt rubber. It hits me in the gut and I'm not a fan. It's not offensive just not as nice as other Catts with a floral, citrus smell.
Here's another pic. The flowers are nicely photogenic.

It could be, Bayard. Other Catt fans have suggested that it's a tetraploid conversion of 'Summit'. It certainly acts like a 4n.

In their book ' Monography of the Venezuelan Cattleyas and its varieties ' Aulisi and Foldats mention on page 143 the described variety (now called forma) grandiflora. They say: Some of the varieties are usually known as "grandifloras" (they are established varieties according to classical taxonomic patterns) which are probably polyploid.
Looks like you lucky guy picked one of these grandifloras.

Thanks for this interesting information. 'Grandiflora' certainly fits the bill. I selfed her last week, so we'll see what happens.
Bud, looking forward to the pics! I always enjoy your posts.

Amazing, I don't think mine will produce this year. Not sure why.
