Encyclia profusa
This is a Colombian species that justifies its name: it really is a profusion of flowers! My plant is little more than a baby and gave many flowers. Slightly scented, which is always a bonus!

That is amazing, that is gorgeous, spectacular, a show stopper. I want it!
I have an Encyclia alata since last April, no blooms yet but if it's half as beautiful as yours is, I'll be very happy.
Happy growing to you and enjoy!

Besides the number of flowers I love the crystalline color in this species. There isn't the slightest trace of purple on the flowers, except for the tip of the column and the lip!

Another beauty, Mauro! Congratulations. I'm still learning to grow Encyclias after killing a couple. Seem to be doing better now that I've moved them into clay pots and made the mix more open but I'm not sure that I've got it yet. Do you have any culture hints?

Shirley, I guess that you're on the right way using clay pots and open media. I have several of mine planted this way, some others in baskets as you see above, and a few others mounted on hardwood pieces. You see, open media, free, or relatively free roots are important with Encyclias in my opinion. But, I’m experiencing three different species in plastic baskets filled in with moss. I started this experience a month ago. Let’s see.

Thank you, Mauro. I'll be very interested to learn how they do with only moss.
