JEWELL ORCHIDS – BIN - BLUE Cattleya Joan Landsberg
Anyone have any luck growing the Joan Landsberg? I was thinking about getting one. Any advice would be appreciated. Oh and what does "Jewell Orchid" mean...is that a minature?

Jewell Orchids sells a lot of seedlings. They are healthy but really small. Check the posting well for the size of the plant....

Couple of other points. This vendor likes to specialize in developing blue orchids (hence the name). Do not be confused by the nomenclature he uses. It is more in line with searches on the Web. So Drop the Bin Blue portion of the name if you want more info on the hybrid you are interested in. Yes, they are small, but of good quality, and very inexpensive. Just be sure you have a good environment, and can wait a few years for blooms.

Exactly. Good quality, good price, healthy but small. Will take many years till blooming size on some. Plus if you get a seedling, maybe less chance of virus. I bought a nice blue one too, it's a cute lil seedling. |

Jewel orchid also refers to Ludisia discolor, which is probably grown more for its foliage than the flowers.

It was a low enough price that I have one on the way  And I have a nice spot for it on a south facing window.
I like the shape of the bloom so I don't mind if it ends up more purple than blue, but when it eventually does bloom I'll come back to this thread with a pic |
