Bc. Kosh Wallis 'Paradise'
I've had this one for a few years now. I love the fragrance it gets at night! i divided this plant six months ago into two equally sized division, the other division also has a bud and a small spike growing! this one has three flowers on one spike and one bud on a second spike, as well as a third small spike growing! The flowers arent as good form wise as last blooming, but last blooming only had one flower, this time the plant is half that size and has more flowers!

Very nice! I haven't seen this one before. The night time fragrance would definitely be a plus. That looks like a pretty fancy lighting system you have for your pictures. The photographs are great.

thanks!! It is lightly fragrant during the day. but at night it intensifies exponentially!
haha its not too complicated, its just a sppedlight in an umbrella coming from the left angle and some white matte board at the right angle for a little fill light. and theres white matte board for the background and for the pot to sit on.

I like the white background! nice color rendering. I guess you used a Nikon judging from the SB800 used. what lens/camera?
I am so tired of AOS' Orchids mag style photos with a black background. This looks good and more real life like. I have one of these, grows like crazy, never bloomed. I think some growths had sheaths but dried up. does it bloom from a green or from a dried sheath?

thanks alot!! its actually an sb600, but yeah its a nikon (i love it by the way!) I shoto with a D90 and for most thinkgs (this included) I use a nikkor 18-200 Vr lens. its great!
me too! while i agree that using a standard black background for all photos for the aos
awards database is good to keep things consistent, it gets boring and for things other then the awards database, people should branch out! i love a black background too, but white is ALOT easier to light!!
interesting. it depends on the season i think. because this grows new leads (like 12 at a time!) throughout the year, but they either dotn bloom or they wait until the season to bloom. some come from no sheath, some come from green sheet, some even come from brown sheath, so it depends, haha!

Very nice! I am looking forward to my brassavola blooms. Nice pictures. I often take my flowers at night for dramatic effect but it is usually the roses.

interesting! these days when im taking photos of orchids to post, i almost always use some type of artificial lighting. i just like the studio look, and knowing that i am in complete control and can decide exactly how it comes out
