Very well grown Mauro

Am anxious to see if this little guy grows well under my conditions. Lighting is not an issue, cool might be, but it's worthy of a try. Dave I am curious on how your's will grow, thinking along your lines to mount or merely leave within gravel. The moisture am sure will not be an issue but my thinking is with the mix of gravel and moisture would help keep their little feet cooler.

Thanks Gwen, I think I am going to watch it for awhile before I make up my mind! I always have one foot out of the box! just in case. Actually its just not knowing any better. Cheryl the weather is getting cooler so I don't think that will be a problem at least for now. Maybe I'll bring it in the a/c in the summer.

I was just reading that they hate their roots being disturbed. Sounds like you'd be better off sticking to your plan.

I did read that they can be successfully grown on driftwood. And that you could "hang" them high in the trees in Florida. . .where they're getting bright but diffused light. But how in the heck are you going to know if it's blooming or not?

I also read that they like to be misted. . .in the late afternoons.

And that these are super exciting little plants to bugs. . .like scale and fuzzy something or others.

OMG. . .this is going to be so much fun. Can't wait to hear how everyone's project progresses!

Mauro,

Just had to come back to this thread to look at the pictures. . .and to say, I LOVE your photos but especially the first one.

Have you thought about writing a book about your orchids and publishing your photos?

Thank you very much for you kindness, Gwen!
A book... well, some friends have been asking me to do that. Honestly, writing a book is not easy when you think seriously about. I have something already written about each one of the Brazilian Cattleya species and their varieties, but my notes need revision already! My orchid society commemorates 50 years of activity now and I am proposing a project of a commemorative book. Maybe this is the opportunity. Let's see! Thanks again!
