Picked up this beautiful red orchid from a local nursery worker who sells/breeds orchids independently. I love red and reddish orchids- my definite favorite. So I couldn't resist. Just bloomed for me in the last week and has such lovely, waxy blooms. I have her in a windowsill that gets morning sun and diffused light throughout the day so I'm hoping it works out.

Ain't it pretty?

and I threw in a pic of my B. nodosa because hey, it's pretty too

Very nice! That is a good one. I have nearly ordered it a few times but I have only space left for mini orchids. I do have two brassavolas, one a nodosa. I love the night fragrance! Both great choices!

Chocolate Drop has a potential of making a large cluster of flowers. I like its flowers.
I have a hybrid that has Chocolate Drop in it, and the shape and the waxi texture show nicely.

I have a NOID brassavola that just opened. Mine is white with some pink spots on the lips.
no scent yet, but am very much looking forward to the nocturnal fragrance.

One thing I noticed about my B. nodosa is that it hasn't had a lot of scent yet, but I think it may be acclimating to the environment in my kitchen. I stuck my face in the bloom last night and noticed a lovely lemongrassy/gardenia/mint scent. It isn't drifting thru the house yet but I hope it acclimates fully soon and gets to where the scent is more obvious than when my nostril is literally in the middle of the flower lol

The seller said this catt is pretty hardy and fairly hard to kill..... let's hope I don't.
