Default Prosthechea citrina

Prosthechea citrina ( Euchile, Cattleya ) bloomed last summer with 6 flowers.
This endemic, pendant growing species is from Central and Southern Mexico where it grows epiphytically in high altitude dry oak and pine forests.
This species has very strong citrus scent.

Simply amazing specimen! I recently got one of these (a very young one) and it is doing well, just finishing off a growth. How dry to you keep yours in winter and when do you begin to cut down on water? My growth is finished and new roots are just coming out. Is it too soon to cut back on water? I've also thrown mine outside so it can see some colder temps. What temp do you let yours get down to in winter?

Sorry for all the Q's!!

Isurus, i cut down on water when the new growths are mature all out. My plants rest about 4 months ( from december to march) and i do not water them at all. My plants have resting temperature about +10-14 Celsius.
I think you should let your plant grow new roots and after that you can start get down on water. Your plant is small, so do not stop watering completely, but just give water less than normally when resting.

Jouni,
I forgot to ask you at what point do you begin watering again in the spring? Do you wait for the new growth to get a certain size, or do you water at the first sign of new growth? Thanks again!

I start watering when the days are here longer and the new growth is about 2-3 cm long.

Very nice. They remind me of upside-down narcissus flowers
