Brassavola tuberculata - Orchid Board

I'm just so thrilled with my first bloom of this flower - which I thought was weird when I bought it) .
This orchid has a lovely fragrance especially at night. It is known for growing on the rocky slopes of the famous sugar loaf mountain in Rio de Janeiro (Pão de Açucar) so is a hardy species taking a pounding from hot rock, seaspray, mist, extended dry spells, downpours of torrential rain, you name it. Mine is in pot with gravel and sphagnum just as I got it from the shop.

Those are fantastic blooms, and your photo is also worthy of praise as it captures both blooms and plant really nicely. Congratulations on the blooming of your "weird" plant. :-)

Very nice! Do you know (or anyone) what the differences between this species and B. perrinii are?

I "think" the petals of the perrini are more olive green vs the tuberculata being just greener, I read that the perrini is more heartshaped.
But hey, total newbie here..

Still a baby but already in bloom.
Got it 2 weeks ago with two spikes and I'm so happy they survived shipping and the new environment :-)
I'll mount it when the blooms are gone.

I got a few other Brassavolas
-nodosa
-perrinii
-flagellaris
-cucullata
-subulifolia (syn. cordata)
and a Rhyncholaelia glauca
All mounted

Suggestions for my wish list are very welcome ;-)
