I've actually wanted to try a Stanhopea on these types of mounts. That might be one worth trying!

Then you would have to hang the vase up by a wire, as Stanhopeas flower downwards, correct?

Yes, that is true. Or you could attach the Stanhopea closer to the top of the mount, though I'm not sure how big your mount is. |

Size varies, but the largest one I have is about 10 " high - hold a lotta water when full!

Try Stan grandiflora then. Their spikes are a bit shorter than most Stan spikes.

I agree with everything said here...I, in fact lost a enc. profusa which was potted and stayed far too wet. Most encyclias like to dry between waterings...BettyE. |

Here is mine duly transferred to a piece of bark. The pseudobulbs look a bit worse for wear, but, hey, new growth! So hopefully all is now well and I look forward to some blooms..
