Cattleya lueddemanniana ('Clarines' x 'Morelia') in bloom!
I'm pretty excited about this one as it is a first bloom for me. I bought it last fall from Ecuagenera as a mature blooming plant. It seems to have produced sheath and buds thru to flowering all within two months! We were away and when I got home the other day I couldn't believe the buds had grown enough to produce these huge gorgeous blooms! They are 5 inches wide and not fully open, but I don't know if they will spread out further now. I don't think the photos can do it justice. It is totally gorgeous with the most beautiful markings on the lip. Very fragrant as well with more in the morning than at night. I am totally in love with this
Finally my past acquisitions and younger plants are beginning to bloom as the last 5 bloomers have all been first time blooms for me!

That is so beautiful! Congratulations! I hope that the blooms last a long time so that you can savor them!

Thanks Vanda lover, RosieC and terracotta7. I know these floofy Catts don't always last long so at least I am home and can enjoy it for as long as it is here. I guess it is big bang for the buck while it is in bloom

Thanks! I was just looking at it again tonight in the living room now that there is no daylight. It is a lovely illuminated lavender in the day and now a rich deeper purple at night. I am sure enjoying and the lip is the best I have ever seen in my collection!

I love a lip that has a pattern on it. It has character.
