L. purpurata x C. loddigesii Male
Default L. purpurata x C. loddigesii

It is a lovely primary cross that blooms in summer regularly. It is able to produce five or six blooms in each spike. The blooms are lightly fragrant.

This cross was registered in 1895 and is still in cultivation, how cool is that! Seems to have taken a fair share of characteristics from both parents.

Cattleya (syn. Laeliocattleya) Sallieri = Cattleya (syn. Laelia) purpurata x Cattleya loddigesii

So lovely. Can see why it's been around since 1895.

Thanks.
It is a charming cross. I am lucky to have two plants. Both plants are in bloom recently.
