Cattleya Featherrae 'Misty Blue' (in bloom)
(Cattleya Canhamiana x Cattleya Blue Moon)
This is a mini/compact growing plant with huge six inches coerulea flowers that is nicely shaped. In reality it is light lavender in blue tinge. Two buds got nipped by the wire hang as I accidentally dropped the pot while transferring to the glass planter or else I would have three flowers on this plant….
It hangs outside the fire escape for warmth and brightness but in wintertime it is on an east facing kitchen window. Weekly weakly fertilizer and gets watered every other day in warmer months and weekly in winter. It’s in its original Cattleya mix for a couple of years now; maybe I will repot when the roots start to crawl out of the pot….

Great looking bloom and looks huge on that plant! Too bad you lost a couple buds The perils of orchid growing, unfortunately.

Thank You, Sonya !
* I am not that clumsy with my blooms ....prying it off the wires on the rails of the fire escape was a breeze....but the sink can be tricky sometimes when your hands slip the flowers suffer...

I really like it! Very pretty! I wish I had known about compact catts in the early days...I have a few that I fear will be huge. Compact orchids are really the smart way to go!
