That sounds like a great idea. Cutting off small or dead backbulbs will help get it down to size while keeping it as a specimen.

Beverly, if you can't get a bigger tree fern, I'd just buy a larger ( maybe a 12 or 14 inch ) plastic pot with a hanger attached. Then, just put it into that! I've done that with an oncidium and it worked fine...BettyE.

A beautiful B. nodosa RJ!

My little stars is doing well mounted and I am looking to get a "regular" B. nodosa next.

There seems to be a few variations and crosses out there.
Not to hijack your thread but can someone suggest a robust grower and a larger plant variation and perhaps a reputable vendor for it?

I am thinking a 'susan fuchs' would be a good choice? Would love to hear opinions from more experienced growers such as you guys on it.

Love it, RJ. The blooms are cute little hearts, but it's the fragrance that gets me every time.....so nice at night, as you say. I have 3..1 mounted, the other 2 in clay pots. My husband just likes to stand in my greenhouse and sniff.

I agree with Gage...everyone should have one.

By the way, I'm with you...I just love new bloomers

Its mounted on plain cork with no moss. Gets hosed 3 times a day in the heat. Decided to bloom in the high light it also gets with the heat. A Weakly weekly regime of peters cal mag with some ground kelp for instant energy to the tiny roots.

the plants very small and smells very sweet at night as it should. It has now bloomed for me. I just love new bloomers

Lovely blooms! I am so jealous as I have a hybrid with this in it (Bc) and so far after having it for a year it has given me about 11 new growths but no blooms -ever. I am so fed up with it. Mine is potted. I water it maybe twice a week and give it high N fertiliser every watering at 1/4 strength flushed on the forth. I gets a south east window which gets a lot of sun -when out. What on earth am I doing wrong??
