Does anyone know about black towards bottom of Pbulbs? I think it needs repotting but it is getting ready to flower so don't want to do that yet. Maybe I have overwatered or underwatered don't know? I only water it 1x per week but my home is really hot right now.
flush it under the sink with the faucet at full throttle to get those dead materials from the decaying media....let it drain a bit and pray the bulbs with hydrogen peroxide to rule out fungi or bacteria infestation
Ok I will try that. It doesn't really look like any fungi or bacteria. I thought maybe this hybird does that when it is spiking. Maybe normal process for it?
the sheath on the psuedobulbs turns black sometimes and that is alright, if the actual tissue of the psudobulb or the rhysome turns black you got trouble.....hopefully all you have is the paperlike tissue surrounding the psuedobulb turning black?
But that is a sign of black or brown rot not yet manifesting itself into the tissue of the pbulb. Better to pull it off the pbulb once it gets hard. Tweezers do a good job of taking it off. Have had some that developed the dark or black sheath tissue develope into pbulb black rot. Be careful.
It seems like it is just the paperlike tissue. I believe if you removed it that the pbulb itself would be alright. It is root bound because when I water it hardly any water drains through the holes in the bottom of the pot. That probably is alot of the problem not getting could drainage
if it's the sheathy material on the pbulb, I wouldn't worry about it - they sometimes become blackish - if you pull it off and the pbulb itself looks fine, then it's all good
