I first noticed growth in the flower sheaths in mid January. It was
barely more than a shadow of a growth within the sheath.
One pseudobulb produced 3 flowers, but I was away while the first bloomed. Those blooms were already wilting by the time I returned. This is the third and last bud on this influorescence, and the flower is much smaller than the other two were: it's only 3 inches wide.
I wish the flowers could have turned out a deeper red, but I guess the heat of the NYC summer interfered with that.
There is another sheath which has the beginnings of a flower bud growing in it.
