It the names are not registered they might only be 'trade names' rather than 'official' names and it might not be possible to trace back the parentage to the species involved.

I've come across cases where a trade name can actually cover a range of very similar plants all sold under the same name, but all slightly different. I've seen lots of cases of names which you can google and find places selling under that trade name (or pictures of ones people have bought under that trade name) but they are not registered.

It's strange because usually I've not seen that with a cross named with two parents trade names, that makes it look more like a registered name

As I understand it the RHS is where they would be registered for both the USA and European hybrids.

All Orchid hybrids are registered at and ONLY at the RHS, this is World wide not just for some areas and that is why if those names arn't on the RHS it is a noid, a very good looking noid at that.

Interesting. I did notice just now while using the RHS site that it said 'International Orchid Register', so I started to wonder if they hold the definitive register worldwide.

There are 2 C. Hybrida crosses listed in OrchidWiz:

Cattleya Hybrida = (Cattleya guttata x Cattleya loddigesii) by Veitch registered in 1859.

Cattleya Hybrida = (Cattleya aclandiae x Cattleya loddigesii) by Veitch registered in 1863.

Yes. That is sumptuous. I'm not a pink lover in orchids but this pale wine color appeals to me a lot. Love the shape of the flowers too. Names? Names? We don't need no stinking names!!! Very nice. Keep it growing. I'll take any back bulbs you want to throw away (;

Beautiful! You can definitely tell C. loddigesii is one of the parents! Sounds like an old cross whatever it is since it was registered in 1859 and 1863. Where did you get it? I really like it! C. loddigesii is one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing!

Here is a C. Hybrida I found on Flickr. This says it is C. guttata x C. loddigesii. This one looks more like the C. guttata parent. I like yours better! Cattleya hybrida.
