Cattleya Marcella Kost and C. Peckinhaviensis
Default Cattleya Marcella Kost and C. Peckinhaviensis

a Marcella Kost I got at Santa Barbara Orchid Estates last July, first blooming for me, strange, they say it is a winter bloomer. Also, a cattleya peckenhaviensis I bought at an orchid show with buds last August, the buds blasted but over the weekend on the patio here in So Cal it apparently liked it , a summer bloomer blooming waaaayyy early.

(He looks wistfully out at his green house where three peckaviensis are still growing leaves). They should be very fragrant. Mine are. I have a schilleriana also which is even more fragrant. Nice flowers there. Enjoy them. They should last quite awhile.

I really like the peckinhaviensis. I like how the shape of shilleriana mixes with the color of aclandiae.

Haven't seen a good Marcella Koss in years. Thanks for posting this beauty.

Wow, both gorgeous! I don't always appreciate Cattleya hybrids but these are very elegant.
