Cattleya lueddemanniana coerulea
After years of struggling with this plant, I now have it growing and blooming like my other lueddemannianas in that it blooms twice per year. I think that for home growers without a greenhouse like myself this species is easier than if I had a greenhouse because it likes warm temperatures that are easy to provide in the house.

nice looking bloom
I have just one and I love that catt species. Easy to grow indeed. I grow mine on the porch under shade. I was kind of disappointed when I only got 1 new growth, But just this week watering I noticed 2 more .woot!!...Great plants for a catt noob like me!!
Mine dries out everyday and I cant keep it wet enough right now its so hot..I hope that makes for some good flowers like yours !!

Beautiful! How do you provide enough light in the house to bloom it? I have one but I don't think it gets enough light to bloom. I grow under lights during the cold months and outside in the summer. I would love to know how you grow yours. Thanks!

Beautiful! Congrats on the blooms! I too would love some growing advice. I got a good size one last fall which I could tell had bloomed. It has a few new growths but no sign of blooming for me yet.

Bud- This species is supposed to be very fragrant. I have never smelled one myself because I can't get mine to bloom!

I grow this one under T5 fluorescent lights (about 2 feet from a 4 foot 4-light fixture).

Yes, it is. It is not as fragrant as some clones. the best and strongest fragrance I have noted in this species comes from the 'Arthur Chadwick' clone. It's also very easy to grow.

Thanks! I grow mine under a 4 foot, 4 tube T8 fluorescent fixture and it is about a foot from the lights. The new growths have some purple tinting to them so I think it could be getting enough light but like I said it has never bloomed for me. I can see it has bloomed before. It gets a lot of light outside in the summer too. It really needs a repot and I'm going to do it really soon. I was waiting for new root growth and it is just starting. It is growing in at least three directions and is overflowing its 5 inch pot. Do you give yours a winter rest? Thanks!
