Thank you all! C. violacea is Indeed very nice! And the aclandiae as well, however far from being what I have paid for... This is never ever a nigrescens! I get really upset when this happens, especially after paying a high price to a "good" seller for it!

they need higher light than most Cattleyas, but even more important is that they need very high temps...Never under 20C better even higher than that!

Definitely not nigrescens. It seems that you are so often lied to by the European vendors. Is that very common in all the Euro countries or just a few? I guess we are very lucky here in the US to usually get what is labeled.

Wow!!! The vio is very nice but I love love love the aclandiae. I have a c. Respendans that is about to bloom. It has been tempermental to say the least. I never could get a vio to grow well and never got mine to bloom. Not enough heat. I might try again iof I find a rescue. My schilleriana is not doing well at all.It might be warmth related. Both of these are beautiful to say the least. Are they both in baskets? What is your mix? Do both take the same warmth all year?

Sreve, this is not an european thing! I have had problems with my catasetinae from European vendors, because there is almost no one single vendor in europe (and very few worldwide) that really knows this group, and still bring a lot of mistakes from the past on the taxonomy of this group or are self victims when import the plants.

Unfortunately, in the last time, I have been lied (and in this case I can say deliberately!) by USAamerican vendors... This plant is from Orchids Limited! And they cannot tell me they did not know it was not nigrescens, as the plant had already bloomed for them! This week as well, I have received another order from another USAmerican vendor, most of the plants arrived rotten, and other with no rot system...

I am actually wondering whether it is worth to continue paying over priced plants for the single reason that they come from good nurseries with selected plants, when (some) USAmerican seller thinks that Europeans are ready to accept every single S&%çç** they send... <-This comment is based on the experience of several of us, who are currently discussing this issue in another forum, and many of us have the feeling that in the last 1 or 2 year we do not receive the quality of plants we have been offered...

Wow, that is really frustrating!! I guess I have a few trusted vendors that I buy from and I know their plants are really worth the money. Before you give up on the American vendors, I suggest H&R Orchids (one of the owners is active here on the OB) for line bred plants and I can give you a more extensive list of really great vendors if you want. I just hate seeing you constantly being frustrated with plants that don't turn out the way you want! Especially when you pay extra for them!!
