Default New Catt Sagarik Wax- tips?

So I just got her last week and she came to me with an amazingly plump and flowering new growth. She looks so happy and I wanna keep her that way. Her moss is not rotten but seems to be growing algae, this tells me she was watered very frequently so how dry should I let her get? Any suggestions would be welcome

do you want to grow it in moss or repot it in Cattleya mix? I suggest you repot after the blooms are gone and with new growth and roots growing...Catts can sulk for a season without giving you blooms if the roots are awfully disturbed so be very gentle...
or dont repot... use this media and master the skewer method with bamboo stick

Just because the moss has algae on it doesn't mean it was kept too wet. Algae grows well under bright lights and high humidity. Do you have experience with growing in moss? A lot of people have trouble with it. Water it when it is totally dried out. When you water you want to water well and wet all the medium completely. You don't want it to be wet for long periods. If you find it takes a long time to dry out after watering then you should change to a different medium. Moss also breaks down faster than bark so if you use it you will need to repot with new moss about once a year. Have you checked the roots to make sure they are healthy and not rotting?

Is there a big difference in how happy she will be if I change her potting medium?

I have poked around in the moss to peek at the roots and they are fine but I don't wanna repot while she's blooming. I have experience with moss, bark and a 50/50 mix too. I just wanna do what is best

The medium doesn't matter as long as all the plants needs are met. The key with catts and repotting is that you want to repot when the plant is putting out new roots from the newest growth like Bud said. If you do it at a different time the plant won't recover as well. The new roots help the plant establish faster. It should be putting out new roots soon if it hasn't started already. If it has started you can wait untill it is done flowering. The only time you want to repot without new root growth would be if the plant fell out of its pot, was dying, or something like that.

Edit: I guess if you have experience with other mediums you have grown other orchids. Sorry!

Yeah it's one of 25 in my bachelor apartment lol. Just my 1st catt. I have phals, dens, cyms, vandas, oncid and a bulbophyllum that I'm trying to save. I'll likely repot when her blooms drop cause her new growth has reached the side of the pot so I want to shift it back to the center to allow room for more growth inside the pot instead of over the side. Just wasn't sure what to pot her in and how wet to keep her cause I hear they love water.

Most mature cattleyas should completely dry out before watering. In very warm bright weather, I tend to water a little sooner than that but in cooler winter temps it will lead to root rot if they aren't allowed to dry out.

Do they need a winter rest like some dens? I grow inside and she's in my bathroom so she won't get much temp variance

I have a 200watt sunblaster compact fluorescent in my little bathroom so you need sunglasses and sunscreen to take a shower lol

They definitely like to dry out all the way or nearly like Silken said above. They like more water when in active growth but you still need to let them dry out between waterings.
