Laelia Purpurata Coerulea in buds
Dear orchid lovers, I need advice.
Last day my L. Purpurata Coerulea, a specimen plant showd sighns of buds inside the sheath. My curiosity made me to carefully cut the sheath to see if the buds are ok. Two green buds were inside in good condition.
MY BIG concern: cutting the sheaths can negativly affect the buds, or they will grow normally?
Picture with the buds:
I'll really appreciate your answer!!! Thanks a lot!

They will probably develop normally. I don't recommend cutting the sheath. It's very easy to accidently injure the buds or the stem. It also gives an opening for fungus or insects to attack the buds. When buds form in an old dried out sheath they sometimes have difficulty breaking out and it can be neccesary to peel the sheath away. But under normal conditions the blooms have a better chance of developing properly if you leave them alone. Good luck.

Thanks Tucker! Ill be more patient next time.
The plant had been purchased form Elsner orchideen: Elsner orchids
Vigourous plant and reliable vendor from Germany.
(Thank you again Mauro, your brazilian orchids made me buy some more purpurata)

He sits dreamily, envisioning the day, when among the forest he spies, his own beauty, his own laelia.
Beautiful color. Great form. Just beautiful. Thanks for showing me what mine will hopefully look like some time in the near future. Where these mine I'd find it difficult to leave the GH.
