Gage - I don't think that it is mislabeled, although most of it's bloodline is orange/yellow/red, if you look a little further back you will find Brassolaeliocattleya or Blc. George King, a wonderful pink with a lip and throat that is not much different from your plant. I love buying seed crosses, you never know how variable a cross is going to be. I once bought six seedlings out of the same grex and not a single one looked like it could be related to any of the others. What you have is wonderful, if you want it in orange, buy it in bloom.

Thanks Glengary. Good to know the label may be right after all! Only reason I bought it not in bloom is because it was the OS auction. Trying to support the local club ya know.

if it is a seedling not a clone or meristem, it might not be mislabeled....seedlings can throw back to any of its ancestors....whats the breeding? maybe its a throwback?....gl

That's so interesting! I've never heard of orchids doing this.

Beautiful! It has the classic cattleya colors of light lavander with a darker lip and yellow throat. After many years of growing cattleyas that's still my favorite color combination. It's unfortunate that it's miss-labeled but it's a very pretty orchid no matter what the name.

Thanks, Jeff!
Forgot to mention its size. The bloom is about 3 inches from the top of the dorsal sepal to the bottom of the lip, and the plant is about 14 inches tall.

Now 2 blooms. And it smells wonderful during the daytime, sweet/floral. I think the fragrance won me over.
