Fenders Flora Closing

Yesterday I went down to Venice for the final day of the Fenders Flora closing. I got a number of their hybrid plants but I was also able to purchase some of their personal stock plants.

Did anyone else head down for the sale? Susan Fender said the line was out the door on the first sale day Thursday.

I heard about the sale a few weeks ago and tried to spread the word over here in Broward County. It sounds like you purchased some nice orchids. Congratulations! How were the prices?

The prices were very good. Fenders was not over priced to start (in my opinion) so I got some nice values. I went on the last day so they were doing 3" pots for $3, 4" for 4, and 6" for 6. Their stock plants were 75% off the individual prices. There wasn't a ton left but I got some of the things I really wanted. Very sad to see them go!

Sorry to hear about Fenders. It is always sad to hear of a nursery closing.

its very sad to see an established business collapse in our economy....harder and harder to keep a plant based business open and viable....my heart goes out to the fenders and i wish them the best....

The Fenders retired more then went out of business. They are still going to hybridize and sell to vendors and Bill has gone back into caring for Orchids as a hobby.
