NoID Cattleya, in need of a repot, is in bloom and shows new root growth?
I recently picked up a NoID Cattleya from the discount rack of a bigboxstore, the bloom died but there were still 2 psuedobulbs in sheath. The plant is in pretty desperate need of a repot since the 2 sheathed (now blooming!) pseudobulbs are hanging over the edge of the pot, I have to support it with another pot to keep it from falling over!
A couple days ago I saw new root growth from the blooming pseudobulbs. Everything I've read says I should repot when new root growth starts but it also says I shouldn't repot while in bloom. I'm a little confused as to what to do right now. Should I sacrifice the booms for the sake of the root system? Can I cover the roots so they form as "media roots" instead of "air roots"?
I attached a picture of the overhanging roots, I can get some more pics if you need/want a better look.
Thanks for any help!
