Just got back from taking it to Flamingo Gardens. I had to cut all but 4 spikes. All the rest of the flower spikes managed to get thrip damage. So I sacrificed them and they are now in a vase on my kitchen counter. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. I sure wish I could have gotten it over to Naples for their show. It was prime.

Just got back from FGOS. It was nominated for judging but did not get awarded. I kind of figured that would happen. One of the judges said she liked it but for the size expected to have more flowers. I mentioned 2 weeks ago there were 90 flowers and 11 spikes and the little buggers paid an unexpected visit before I caught them. The color was also fading somewhat. She wants to see it next year. You bet it will return for another chance.

All was not lost, I took my Stlma Kelly 'Lea' mounted on driftwood and won the Best in Show Award. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. Thanks Flamingo Garden Orchid Society.

If any of you are in the area stop by Flamingo Gardens. The Flamingo Gardens Orchid Society Show is very nice with something for everyone. Orchid Lovers or not there is a variety of goodies for your gardens. The Show is also tomorrow, Easter Sunday, from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

These are gorgeous. My C. intermedia are all blooming right now and the flower shape is the same. I love the color combo with these. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I can find someone out here in SoCal who is dividing theirs and I can get some back bulbs. Good growing. The plants look great.

Hey Lorraine. It was nice meeting you in person. If Sue hadn't introduced us, we might've never known who each other was. As I recall, I think I've seen you before, either at one of the local shows, or society meetings. I wonder how many other folks here at orchidboard, do I know in real time?

Anyhoos, sorry about the judging on this plant, and those damn thrips, but maybe you'll heed my advice before the next showing of it... hint-hint, Regardless, it was a beautiful sight to see.

Regards, Brady

Here is the picture of Stlma Kelly 'Lea' I just love this plant. It flowers on just about every new growth all year round

And who could go to an Orchid Show and not come home with more. Found 2 species that fit nicely into my collection. Dichaea glauca & Phal cornu-cervi. I have a Den on my Wish List that will have to wait till after the Redlands Show to add.
