Encyclia cordigera............
This encyclia likes to grow dry and bright. This pink version has a very nice, strong fragrance but I once had a purple version of this species that had an even better fragrance.

Encyclias are such great plants! Such beautiful blooms, and it looks like a very healthy plant.

Really attractive blooms, and I've read before your posting that this is one of the more fragrant of the encyclia species. Congrats on the flowers. They're quite pretty.

This is a beauty. I have a look-alike that is currently in bloom and has a sweet fragrance. Also recently acquired one with a deeper color and am considering repotting after the bloom fades. The newest psb is struggling against the edge of the pot. Any suggestions for media? I am considering lava rock which works well in my conditions.

I'm not an expert on encyclias but I understand that they need to be in a medium that dries very quickly. This one has done very well in a small open basket with some tree fern fiber. I would think that lava rock would work well. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the quick reply, Tucker. It is my understanding that they need to dry quickly, as well, hence my thoughts re lava rock. Since my plants are grown in the open, quick drying media is a necessity. Even so, I keep these big bulb babies under cover of the eaves. We may actually get rain again some day.
