Default Laelia Purpurata "carnea"

I want to share my happiness with all the orchids lovers. This is my FIRS L. purpurata, FIRST bloom and my FIRST species in bloom. I feel so good! After 2 years of waiting, and waiting, this is the reward

The flowers are not completely opened, this is the first day, but I will take more pictures soon.

I want to give some special thanks to Mauro Rosim. Because of his beautiful Brazilian species I wanted so much to have some.

I really hope so. The color of the lip is intense, exactly like in the vendor description.

Indeed a queen

Thank for you comments!

Here some more pics. The shape is not very good, the petals are a little bit curved. Hope for better flowers in the future. I love this plant anyway

PS: I forgot to mention that the weather in winter was so bad here, in Romania. Very cold. In my apartment was so dry... I couldn't imagine a purpurata blooming in these conditions. Maybe letting the plant dryer in the winter helped.

I just got a purpurata var. carnea at an orchid lecture a few days ago! I put it in a big basket for specimen culture... I'm so excited for it! I elected to get the smaller sized plant because I know these can grow to a gigantic size! (which is exactly what I intend to do!!!) Congratulations on yours!!!!!!!!!!!!
