I was just looking at the flowers in one of my cases where I have put it for more light while the new growths mature. It is a LOT darker color than in the picture. More like the purples at the top and bottom of the thread pages.

I will try to take a picture that shows that.

Steven, thank you for sharing your touching story and I offer my condolences. I know your mom would have loved what you've done with the gorgeous piece of wood and 'her' orchid.

They were meant to be together. The orchid complements the wood and visa versa. It is a beautiful piece and one you should be proud of.

Hi Steven, would you mind to give me the name of the originator of this beautiful cross?

The link in the first picture takes you to my thread that shows the registration certificate. The name is G. Takasaki. I can't remember right now what the G stands for. If I figure it out I will let you know.

Oh, let me go look at the emails.......

His name is Gerrit and he is from Hawaii Hybrids.

Follow all the links for the whole story.

UPDATE: The orchid is no longer mounted and I may have waited too long to repot it as it is not doing well at all. Hoping for the best.

Sad to report that the plant did not make it but I have gotten two new ones from the person I got the originals. He has indicated that I may have one of each of the two varietals that he has of this cross.

Hoping!
